Parks
From JhuWiki
Just to the north west of campus, there is a nice little clearing with a stream. Just walk around behind Bloomberg around San Martin Drive and look for a path down.
Wyman Park- Just to the south of campus and right below the Mattin Center is Wyman Park. They have little benches and a nice path. Well lite at night, but has a long history of criminal behavior after dark, so don't go there alone at night.
Sherwood Gardens A few blocks northeast of the JHU baseball field, Sherwood Gardens is a beautiful garden tucked in Guilford, one of Baltimore's most prominate neighborhoods. This small, community maintained park has beautiful seasonal plantings; tulips in April, ...... The public is welcome to rest awhile in the gardens so bring a book and a towel to enjoy a quiet rest. However, no picnicing or ball play is allowed. To get to Sherwood Gardens, from the Beach, walk northeast on Greenway for about 6 blocks. Sherwood Gardens are on the corner of Greenway and Strafford.
Druid Park- A few miles southwest of campus is Druid Park. This is a very large park, designed at the turn of the century as a outdoors living area for Baltimore genteel set. Many of Baltimore's elite lived in the area in the late 1800's the likes of the Cone sisters and their frequent vistors, Matesse, Gertrude Stien, Alice b. Tokus, etc. enjoyed many a stroll in this park. It includes a lake, and baseball diamond, a swimming pool, tennis courts, picnic pavillions, as well as other recreational features. Baltimore's Gay Pride Festival is held here each June. Also, the Baltimore Zoo is adjacent to this park. Unfortunately, the park is not well maintained by the City. The park closes at dusk, but it a well know area for the criminal element after dark. The neighborhood between JUH and the park is not so good. But Dizzy's Izzie's is a freindly, fun bar for a cold draft about half way between JHU and the park.
